A brass plumb bob magnifies a video installation mounted in cement box.
Turned on the lathe from brass stock, the plumb bob nests three brass pieces with an internal thread, holding three magnifying lenses. The steel structure cantilevers a 3/4 inch steel tube with a 1/4 inch steel truss with 3/16 inch supporting members. The truss flexes to an arc, holding the plumb bob 1 inch above a video. The plumb bob uses magnifying technology to expose the pixels of two hands digging a hole in the soil. The video repeats and slows the action of digging into a caress of the earth.
